What is Rust?

Rust is a survival video game developed and published by Facepunch Studios for Microsoft Windows, OS X, and Linux. The game only features multiplayer modes. Rust was initially created as a clone of DayZ, a popular mod for ARMA 2 with the addition of crafting elements. Originally released onto Steam's early access program in December 2013, the game fully released in February 2018.

The only aim in Rust is to survive. To do this you will need to overcome struggles such as hunger, thirst and cold. Build a fire. Build a shelter. Kill animals for meat. Protect yourself from other players, and kill them for meat. Create alliances with other players and form a town. Do whatever it takes to survive.

Other than hunting, avoiding death and actually gathering supplies, much of your time in rust will be spent Crafting new items to help you survive. Most basic items, like the stone hatchet or a campfire, can be built from items that you've found on Rust Island, like stone or wood.
