DYNASTY WARRIORS 9 Empires – Review

Our result: 8/10

Dynasty Warriors 9 Empires is it latest part of the Empires series with a mixture of exciting action and simulations of land capture. Experience the human history of the Three Kingdoms in a way only empires can. Fight spectacular castle sieges and change the political landscape of the country. Welcome to the world of empires.

The dynasty goes on

For those unfamiliar with the series, it’s a reimagining of the traditional Chinese epic The Romance of the Three Kingdoms, reimagined as an action game. Since 2004, every Dynasty Warriors game has contained an Empires spin-off. This combines the original game’s Musou combat with tactical and great strategy features. It has proven to be an absorbent combination over the years. But combining these different components in Dynasty Warriors 9 Empires will be more difficult than in previous years.

When it comes to Dynasty Warriors 9 Empires’ tactical focus, it works well. The player can select the game’s many campaigns through an all-screen view that complements the primary Musou combat experience and adds a greater scale to the events of the original game and its interpretation of Romance of the Three Kingdoms. Additionally, the character creation tool allows players to carve their own path through the campaigns if they find this iteration of Dynasty Warriors too realistic.

The Art of War

The great strategic gameplay is just as addictive as previous Empires games, with the player having to keep track of things like rations while trying to expand their region. Players should expect to converse with other characters to win them over. As well as looting and sending spies to investigate opponents and weaken their fortifications. With everything in order, it’s time to get down to business with some classic Dynasty Warriors battles.

As usual, the battlefield is littered with objectives and bases. Each has a specific purpose. Your strongholds determine the type of support you receive as well as your ability to take control of the conflict. In other words, a large number of kills is not enough. With their individual plans, officers change the dynamics of the battlefield. Weather, manpower, morale, and other factors are all affected by plans. When executed correctly, effective tactics can tip the pendulum of conflict in your favor. Enemy forces can also use objectives to their advantage.

Dynasty Warriors 9 Empires Officer Edit

Officer edit mode returns, allowing the player to change their favorite character’s fighting style and replace them with a male or female character of their own creation. The majority of the costume designs are based on the game’s standard officer attire, but there are a few anachronistic details, such as goggles, suits, and ties.

Final Verdict

Dynasty Warriors 9 Empires is a pretty decent Musou game that has some shiny moments, but unfortunately it feels like it’s missing the finish line. It can be a little frustrating at times and starts out slow, but it’s still a Dynasty Warriors game so the magic is still there. If you are a fan of the series, you will enjoy this one.
